Nordic Ski-ing Cross Country comes to Glenmore Forest, near Aviemore

Glenmore Shop and Ski Hire gained a cutting edge with their latest purchase of a Bombadier Piste Machine, used to cut Cross Country Ski Tracks. These machines are rare in the UK, and this one cuts tracks for XC ski-ers in the magnificent surroundings of Glenmore Forest, overlooking Loch Morlich, overlooked by the Cairngorm mountains, and slap bang in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park and timing couldn't have been better for the new piste machine with recent snow falls offering perfect track cutting and XC ski-ing conditions.

If you just want to get away from it all, or conditions are just too severe at the top, why not head for the ancient Caledonian Pinewood Forest at Glenmore where, not only can you find shelter in the forest, but you can also experience the exhilarating and family friendly sport of Cross Country Ski-ing. Who knows, you might even be lucky enough to see some Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Red Deer, Roe Deer, Capercaillie and Black Grouse (the bird variety, not the whisky; although there are plenty of places in the nearby Aviemore if you fancy trying the liquid version later on!)

How to Get There From Aviemore, go east towards the Cairngorm mountains and the ski area. Pass through Coylumbridge and, after 6 miles, enter Glenmore Forest Park.
