Fort William is already an established venue on the UCI World Cup circuit, having hosted World Cup events since 2002. The World Championships will take this to a new level with over 750 of the World's top riders competing over a week long festival of mountain biking.

The Highland town beat off strong competition from Australia and Canada to become hosts. The event is expected to attract around 40,000 visitors and participants to Fort William underlining its claim to be Britain's top mountain biking venue.
