Forres, Findhorn & Burghead
Forres, with its many beautiful parks, is a consistent performer in the annual ‘Britain in Bloom’. Discover Suenos Stone, a pictish relic, climb Cluny Hill to see the famous landmark Nelsons Tower and visit the Falconer Museum. To the north lies the quaint village of Brodie.
A must-see is Brodie Castle; built in 1576, visitors can explore inside the castle and it’s hidden treasures. North of Forres is Findhorn, a tranquil coastal village, with miles of wonderful white sandy beaches, popular for watersports, bird-watching or just a peaceful sunset stroll. Explore the Ice House which tells the story of the once thriving salmon industry. Nearby is the famous Findhorn Foundation, a holistic eco-village, where visitors are welcome to explore the community and see eco-projects in action.
Atop the headland at Burghead, view the mysterious vitrified Pictish fort thought to be the largest in Europe. Discover Randolph’s Leap on the River Findhorn, where flood stones were erected to mark the river’s height reached during the 1829 Great Moray floods. Search for dolphins with Moray Diving and Wildlife Cruises, a wildlife charter boat, which leaves Findhorn on a regular basis.
