Castle of Mey The new Visitor Centre at the Castle opened on Tuesday 1st May. The Centre is constructed from Caithness slate/stone, lined with lard and insulated with sheeps wool and lime mortar has been used throughout the construction. The heating system is geothermal. This year the Castle & Gardens will be open seven days a week from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm (last entries). Exciting new developments include an animal centre down by the old granary, the new visitor centre with tearoom, which seats 52, and shop. Entrance to the visitor centre is free!
