All-abilities near Lochinver in Sutherland The path is to be found about six miles east of Lochinver on the Little Assynt Estate on the A837 and is just under a mile long. It winds it way past the shores of two lochs - Loch Beannach and Loch Innis Thorcaill, to a viewpoint looking over the surrounding mountains and lochs of Assynt. There are heather thatched shelters along the route together with compost toilets and specially adapted Pioner 13 boats suitable for disabled anglers. The project is run by by Culag Community Woodland Trust and Jamie Andrew, the mountaineer and author of 'Life and Limb' opened the path on May 6, 2006 Jane Henry, for the trust said the path would "provide an opportunity for those with limited mobility to access the wild and beautiful Highland landscape and for disabled anglers to fish the lochs on the route". Contact Jane Henry or Robin Noble on 01571 844368 or visit the Culag Woods website for further information . |
